Good news Disney/Film fans! (Oh God, another Disney post. Sorry guys I'll have a new, NON-Disney post up in a bit!) For the few of you who don't already know, Disney's (not to mention America's) first feature length animated film hits Blu-Ray! (or has hit... Release Date was October 6) Grab a copy now and experience Walt Disney's theatre debut in all its colourful High-Definition glory! On the other hand, citizens of Standard-Definition Land will have to wait 'til November 24 for the DVD release (Yeah, more than a month). Disney sure knows how to milk its customers for all they got (and I love them for it), this (re)release marks the first in the Diamond Edition Line, a follow up to the immensely popular Platinum Edition Line. Pictures, Pricing, and Variations after the jump!
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Diamond Edition is available in 5 variations: (click each picture to enlarge)
BEFORE YOU BUY: Amazon.com currently has a promotion on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, buy any version of the Diamond Edition and get $10 with this code: snowhite (note: only one dubya/w). Not sure how long the promo will last so get on over to Amazon.com
#1 - The Standard Blu-Ray Set:

This is basically the base set, it's a 2 Blu-Ray Disc set along with (Ladies and Gentlemen, the Genius of Disney) an obligatory DVD copy for those who want to dust off their DVD players or to keep the kids happy in the car...
SRP: $39.99 (but as of this writing it's available for around $20 at most online retailers)

#2 - The DVD Case Set:

Now here's a strange little creature.... Blu-Ray discs pretending to be DVDs? Appears so. Disney decided to release a DVD case set. A little confusing I know, it's got the same set of discs as the standard Blu-ray edition (2 Blu-Ray discs and 1 DVD copy) but is packaged in a standard DVD case. Now I'm not quite sure why someone would want a Blu-ray move in a DVD case but my theory is that Disney is trying to entice on-the-fence buyers into buying Blu-Ray, a wolf in sheep's clothing... If you will. Will it work? Who knows? I personally prefer the Blu-Ray box art (not to mention it'll fit perfectly in my Blu-Ray collection) plus they're exactly the same price.
SRP: $39.99 (again, available for around $20 at most online retailers)

#3 - Plush Gift Set
Hey little girl (or... err boy?)! Desperate for some stuffed dwarf action?? Well now you can get all seven of them for the low low price of... Tada!! $79.99! But wait... There's more! On second thought no... no there isn't. Basically, it's the DVD-Case edition (here we go again...) in a plastic case crammed with all seven dwarves, in plush form.
SRP: $79.99 (Available at most stores for around $53)

#4 - Collector's Book Set

Don't judge me... This is the set I picked up. The Collector's book set comes with a book containing a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Snow White and a storybook retelling of the classic tale packaged in a special edition box. Basically, if you're too cheap/poor (ahem... like me) for the Limited Edition Collector's set, detailed below, get this set. My only gripe with this edition: it comes with the DVD-Case version. Why oh why oh why.
SRP: $59.99 (Ordered it from Amazon.com for $39.99)

#5 - Limited Edition Collector's Set
Wow. This set is pretty much a collector's Holy Grail, and the one I'd get if I only had the money. Simply put, this set is LOADED with extras. In addition to the Standard Blu-ray (so now you include the regular one...), this edition comes with a hard-bound book featuring photographs and a brief history (I'm not sure if this is the same book included in the Collector's book set with different binding), seven character portrait lithographs, and an eight-piece pin set cased in a satin box. To top it all off, this edition comes packed in a gorgeous presentation box so you can show it off to all your friends.... Or not.
SRP: $249.99
(Yowch... You can nab it for $149.99 at most online retailers.)

Alright, enough Amazon Pimping (for now...). I'll be reviewing the Collector's Book Set as soon as it arrives in the post. Stay tuned! I solemnly swear the next post will be un-Disney related.
