Opening Night: The Wolfman

Joe Johnston's much anticipated (and postponed) remake of the 1941 horror classic The Wolfman made it's debut earlier this month. Backed by a star-studded cast and a $150 million budget, does this reimagining do the original justice? Read the full review after the jump.

Trailer Reel: Black Dynamite

Sexy Kung-Fu fighting hits the silver-screen once again but not in the way you'd expect. Move aside Jackie Chan because Black Dynamite ain't fooling around. '70s Blaxploitation kicks back baby!

(from the official website) When “The Man” murders his brother, pumps heroin into local orphanages, and floods the ghetto with adulterated malt liquor, Black Dynamite is the one hero willing to fight all the way from the blood-soaked city streets to the hallowed halls of the Honky House.

I go ga-ga over vintage things (what can I say? The past is my playground.) and this quasi-'70s spoof of Blaxploitation flicks definitely piqued my interest the moment I laid eyes on its deliciously designed poster and I was pulling up Apple Trailers quicker than you can say "Shaft". Needless to say Black Dynamite exudes budget-'70s Blaxploitation flick. From the smooth porno-esque funk soundtrack to the snappy (albeit cheesy) dialogue, not to mention the smaller touches like muffly audio and not-quite-there camera work, this film oozes '70s sex appeal. Black Dynamite hits theatres this week (for you lucky Americans) here's hoping it gets to the Philippines at all!

As In Colour! makes its blogging debut, what better way to start than with the studio that introduced me to the wonderful world of film? Does the first ever Blu-Ray release of Walt Disney's films do him justice? In Colour! takes the classic out for a spin. The full in-depth review after the jump.
